College of nursing Introduction

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) Bhubaneswar College of Nursing took its infant steps in September 2013 when the first batch of sixty students walked through its corridors. Faculty and staff at the College of Nursing put their efforts into nurturing young minds to bloom and take forward the torch of this great profession.

College of Nursing, as part of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, was established under the Pradhan Mantri Swastya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) to correct the imbalances in affordable and quality nursing education in underserved states.

Since its establishment, it has gone from strength to strength. It has developed as an esteemed institution with highly qualified faculty, state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, and clinical teaching facilities, and an established center of excellence in nursing practices, education, research, and administration.

Students are admitted through the all-India entrance test conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi, and academic activities begin in August of each year. Once here, they go through rigorous and disciplined academic events tailored to prepare them to tackle the increasing complexities of the healthcare situation in the country.

The products of an institution speak for its greatness. The first batch of B.Sc (Hons.) nursing students completed the B.Sc(Hons.) course in August 2017. Today, they are placed all over the country and abroad in good academic and professional career paths.

In August 2018, the College of Nursing reached another milestone by starting the M.Sc Nursing course with an intake of twenty students. The post-graduate courses were started in specialties like Medical-Surgical Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecologic Nursing, and Paediatric Nursing.

From the academic year 2020 onwards, with a 10% enhancement of EWS seats, the intake of B.Sc (Hons) nursing was enhanced to 75 seats, and 25 seats were allocated to M.Sc nursing.
